VESTIBULAR/ENEM

Portuguese language teaching, according to the National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC), emphasizes reading, writing, speaking, and linguistic analysis based on Literature, and it addresses the main textual genres and their universal themes. Following the principles of the BNCC, in Grade 12, Portuguese language teaching provides tools for using the standard grammatical norm, seeking to build specific skills for this purpose together with the students. In this sense, the different languages are means by which we organize reality, and we understand art as cultural and aesthetic knowledge capable of generating meaning. 

The mother tongue, therefore, must be understood and used as a generator of meaning and integrator of the organization of the world and of one's own identity. In this final year, the subject Language Studies for Exams and Vestibular exams seeks to help students articulate the knowledge they have built up throughout their schooling to produce dissertative-argumentative essays that are fundamental for admission to Brazilian universities. It also encourages them to produce memorial narrative essays to create a collective book about the class's journey through school, thus focusing on these two specific genres over the school year.

The Humanities and Applied Social Sciences in-depth course aims to offer a differentiated qualification for high school students in Geography, History, Philosophy, and Sociology, emphasizing the importance of the permanent exercise of the teaching-learning process. Composed of a multidisciplinary curriculum, based on the various domains of the Humanities, the course offers a comprehensive education supported by contemporary debate, providing an update on fundamental concepts and other knowledge in the area, enabling students to broaden their cultural repertoire and adequately prepare for the challenges related to the academic world. In this sense, the proposal considers analyzing the interlocution between political and social cultures in the Western and Eastern world, presenting the many articulations between concepts and contexts from different theoretical schools. The elective will be guided by case studies on a global and national scale, as well as existing theoretical and methodological references on the phenomena of social dynamics in the contemporary world.

The Science Seminar is designed to help students prepare in the best possible way for the transition from secondary school to higher education. It is a time to revise and deepen concepts already studied in Biology and Physics classes in previous years and to learn several new ones. In addition to reviewing the content covered in the UFRGS and ENEM exams, the specifics of each exam and how the main content is approached are reviewed. 

In class, exercises are used from ENEM and UFRGS as examples, as well as other excellent Brazilian universities. This way, the student will gain confidence and be able to perform better in the exams.

The Math Seminar course aims to qualify students mathematically to enable them to read, understand, interpret, and solve problems presented in daily life, SAT, and Brazilian university entrance exams. Students will be able to interpret and analyze data from charts, diagrams, and tables; instead of memorizing definitions, theorems and formulas, students will be able to use deductive, inductive, combinatorial, geometric and algebraic thinking to solve problems and establish connections. The course presents, when possible, issues involving an integrated view of mathematics with other subjects. The scaffolded content is provided so that it can serve as a basis for further studies in different undergraduate courses and prepare students for international and Brazilian university entrance exams.
