Welcome to Pan American School!

We hope if you are looking to come to an American-international school, you will find a new home at PAS - the only international school in Rio Grande do Sul! We have been Leading the Way since 1967 in Porto Alegre.

We offer outstanding international education that focuses on meeting the needs of the whole child. In a caring, integrated, and respectful environment, students are challenged to take risks and be leaders in their learning. An excellent educational environment cultivates in students a passion for lifelong learning. At the Pan American School, students are encouraged to push further not only in stretching themselves intellectually but socially and emotionally. We have established reflection as an important and necessary part of the learning process. Through reflection, students are able to analyze and develop their communication, research, critical thinking, self-management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

We believe that the classroom is also a learning space for teachers. Education is not a one-time event, it is a lifetime experience. Our teachers, through reflection, peer observations, collaborative planning, and professional development perfect their professional practices and provide an authentic experience for students.

I have been the proud Superintendent of Pan American School since July 2021. Prior to PAS, I served as Director of Learning and Teaching at Colegio Nueva Granada (CNG) in Bogota, Colombia where I led the work of 14 academic leaders in the school and helped provide K4 ‐ 12 learning programs to 1750 students and approximately 350 faculty and staff.

Born in the United States, I hold a Master’s of Education from the College of New Jersey. I also hold the Certificate of Advanced Educational Leadership (CAEL) and the Certificate of School Management and Leadership (CSML) from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Harvard Business school. Earlier in my career, I served as High School Principal at CNG, Middle School Principal at Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro, and I was a teacher in Brazil and Japan.
