Pan American - The International School of Porto Alegre students achieved outstanding results at the Brazilian Geopolitics Olympiad 2026, earning two gold medals, three bronze medals, and one honorable mention.

Sophia Z. (G10) and Hernán S. (G12) received gold medals for their performance in the competition, which challenges participants to demonstrate a deep understanding of global affairs, historical processes, and contemporary geopolitical dynamics. Amanda R., Guilherme S., and Pedro P., all from G10, earned bronze medals, while Arthur F. (G10) received an honorable mention.

The results reflect the work developed in the Current Affairs, Geopolitics, and International Relations Seminar, as well as in other Humanities subjects across the School curriculum. These courses emphasize critical thinking, historical analysis, and the interpretation of contemporary phenomena, equipping students with the tools to engage meaningfully with complex global issues.

"This achievement reflects a formative process that extends beyond individual performance and is rooted in the experience built within the classroom. Throughout this trajectory, students engage with the complexity of the present, recognizing geopolitical dynamics as part of historical processes shaped by disputes, interests, and forms of power. In this sense, the Olympiad expands this movement, creating a space where knowledge, evidence, and interpretation converge in response to the concrete challenges of the contemporary world," shares Mr. Rodrigo Pinnow, Brazilian Social Studies teacher.

For Pan American, the achievement highlights the impact of pedagogical practices that encourage students to read and interpret the world around them. The school is working to expand participation in the Olympiad next year, aiming to strengthen the connection between classroom learning and external academic opportunities.
