Pan American School Welcomes New P3-G12 Principal: Dr. Renee Bowling

Pan American School is pleased to present Dr. Renee Bowling, who officially assumed the position of P3-G12 Principal in July 2025. After a rigorous international selection process, Dr. Bowling is now working at the institution, bringing with her more than 25 years of experience in schools and universities around the world.

The new P3-G12 Principal came from Columbus, Ohio, where she completed her Ph.D. in Educational Studies at The Ohio State University and served as a Researcher Director and University Fellow. She also served on the faculty for Delaware State University’s international Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership.

Transformative Experience in the Himalayas
Before her academic journey in the United States, Dr. Bowling spent a decade at Woodstock School, located in the foothills of the Himalayas in Mussoorie, India. She served on the senior leadership team, holding multiple leadership positions: Head of Upper Years, Head of College & Career Counseling/AP Coordinator, social studies teacher, and P-12 counselor.

"This international school experience reinforced my conviction that education must be both global and local, culturally responsive and rooted in the dignity of all people," shares Dr. Bowling about her time in India.

Academic Background and Recognition
Dr. Bowling holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from The Ohio State University, a postgraduate certificate in Religious Studies and Education from Harvard University, an M.A. in Counseling & Human Development: School Counseling from Walsh University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from The University of Akron. Her work has been widely recognized, with awards including the Best Practices in Research & Scholarship Award (2024) for international education scholarship, the Porterfield-Dickens Award from OSU (2023), and multiple international grants for research and professional development.

A Comprehensive Vision for Pan American School
Dr. Bowling brings distinctive qualities as an international educator, including "enthusiasm and curiosity, a mission-driven, future-oriented, systems-thinking bent, data-informed administrative and operational skill, and a focus on developing people.” 

In discussing her approach to leadership at PAS, she emphasizes: "As P3-G12 Principal, I'm bringing a whole school approach to crafting an exemplary learning and student experience. I look forward to partnering with the community and developing the systems to support student success!"

Since her arrival, Dr. Bowling has been dedicated to deeply understanding the PAS community, interacting with students, families, teachers, and staff to comprehend the needs and aspirations of everyone involved in the educational process. She is looking forward to bringing alignment of educational practices with our mission and vision and guiding the community as the school’s NEASC Accreditation Coordinator.
