Celebrating Excellence Meetings: Strengthening the Partnership Between School and Families
  • Pan American School

Celebrating Excellence is a calendar of meetings designed to deepen family engagement and provide valuable insights into the school's distinctive programs and educational approach. This initiative reflects the school's commitment to transparency, collaboration, and building strong partnerships with families to support student success.

The Celebrating Excellence series creates dedicated spaces for families to learn directly from the School Leadership Team about the comprehensive

support systems, academic programs, and opportunities that define the PAS educational experience. Each session focuses on a specific aspect of school life, providing families with an in-depth understanding and opportunities for meaningful dialogue with educators.

This school year’s calendar series launched in August 2025 with a session on Physical Education and Team Sports, led by Mr. Tomé, PE and Sports Teacher Leader, and Mr. Daniel, Director of Learning and Teaching. This inaugural session went beyond the fundamentals of athletic programs, exploring how Physical Education serves as a powerful vehicle for developing essential life skills.

"We talked about the importance not only of sports themselves, but of teaching through sports," explained Mr. Tomé. "Leadership, interpersonal skills, teamwork: all of these essential competencies are developed through Physical Education. Students learn these lessons on the court and carry them into every aspect of their lives."

Subsequent sessions have explored other fundamental pillars of the PAS educational model. Ms. Fernanda Lemos, Learning Support Coordinator, led a session providing families with valuable insights into the comprehensive support systems in place to ensure every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally at Pan American School. The Learning Support Program session highlighted the school's commitment to differentiated instruction and individualized support that meets each student where they are in their learning journey.

Most recently, Ms. Bárbara Ribeiro, Director of the Brazilian Program, presented on the evolution of the Brazilian curriculum at PAS. This session addressed how the school integrates Brazilian educational requirements with its international programming, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for both local and global opportunities.

The Celebrating Excellence series embodies the school's values of collaboration, transparency, and community engagement. By establishing regular touchpoints between families and educational leaders, PAS underscores that education is a shared responsibility and that strong school-family partnerships are crucial to student success.

The Leadership Team will continue to develop the Celebrating Excellence calendar throughout the academic year, with additional sessions planned to explore other key programs and initiatives that define the PAS educational experience. Future topics will be announced as the series progresses, ensuring families have ongoing opportunities to deepen their understanding and engagement with the school.
